Observing the cosmos directly with your eyes will give you the feeling of direct contact with the infinite that surrounds us. This is the most romantic approach to astronomy, which will bring you closer to the great astronomers of the past.

Are you more interested in observing objects of the night sky or would you prefer to photograph them? Keep in mind that a setup designed for astrophotography is often very different from one for the simple "observation". Even if there are solutions (telescope, mount, camera plus various accessories) which are suitable for both activities, it is always a compromise that penalises one or both of them. In general, a photographic setup is more expensive than one, with the same characteristics, but designed only for the observation. Also consider that a setup designed for astrophotography is often also effective for the observation, while the opposite is less likely - mainly for the unsuitable mount.

The astrophotography is a complicated and demanding hobby which requires great sacrifices (not only economic). Nevertheless, the satisfaction for your progress will be great as well. Good luck!
